Searching for UT Dallas' Next Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost
The University of Texas at Dallas
From the Office of the President of UT Dallas.

Dear University Community,

In the past two months, through many conversations and meetings with our faculty, staff and students, as well as our alumni, I have come away impressed with the vitality of our academic enterprise. We have made significant gains in our academic standing, student enrollment and research capacity.

As The University of Texas at Dallas seeks to elevate its momentum and meet its goals, I have decided to begin a search for the next vice president for academic affairs and provost.

I want to express my deep gratitude to Provost Inga Musselman for her many contributions to UT Dallas and for her steadfast leadership of Academic Affairs and the schools. Under her guidance, and with leadership from our deans, department/program heads, faculty, and academic affairs leaders and staff, we have continued to strengthen the academic programs and advance the University’s reputation for excellence.

I am also appreciative that Provost Musselman has agreed to remain in her role until her successor is appointed. Her commitment will ensure continued progress on our shared priorities and a smooth transition.

The individual selected for this role will provide strategic vision and leadership for all academic affairs programs. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the development and execution of UT Dallas’ academic and research vision, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and vision.
  • Overseeing hiring, tenure and promotion processes with a focus on attracting and retaining top-tier research faculty.
  • Ensuring the quality and growth of academic programs, including advanced scholarship and research productivity.
  • Managing academic budgets with a focus on strategic and faculty initiatives.
  • Maintaining academic standards and overseeing accreditation processes; and developing and enforcing policies related to academic integrity, curriculum, and scholarly conduct.

Community Involvement

We will begin the process by gathering input from key constituencies to refine the position profile and evaluation criteria. Once finalized, the position description will be available on the UT Dallas leadership search website, along with additional information about the search process and anticipated timeline.
